my last day at work was saturday and i am finding the absence of a set schedule refreshing. knowing that i don't have to go into work tomorrow or the next day sits well with me. what did i do today? i played with the cutest puppy in the world, saw some houses with my friend jess and took a nap with my kitty. it was great. i'm definitely going to enjoy the next two weeks as much as possible.

*****

ti-minus three days until i pack all of my shit up in the jeep and drive across pa. i still haven't really done anything in regards packing. most of the essential items have already been packed and are currently residing in ny. i have to figure out how i am going to strap my bed on top of the car- i have a pretty good plan, so we will see how that pans out. i am trying to avoid looking like this:

 or

my parents are all hyped up because they are worried about me driving 500 miles with something on the roof. i have a roof rack- those damn things were invented to strap shit to. i am confident that the white trash in me will come up with a complicated but successful rope/ bungie-cord system that will prevent me from taking flight down i-80 or having my new bed decorate the side of the highway.

i am a bit nervous about being trapped in the car with a huge fluffy cat for the better part of a day. he seems chill enough to forgo drugs and thank god because knowing my luck, i accidentally kill the cat and not know until i reached my destination, thinking that the drugs were working because he was so calm. regardless on how he feels, he is going to have to deal. i have been told that cats go into shut down mode when shoved in their carriers- my experience with this cat has only been an hour in the car and he was fine. a bit of loud meowing but he settled down and glared at me from the back seat.

jess, hopefully, is going to follow me in her car incase anything major happens. the odds are stacked against me. not only am i strapping a bed to the roof, my car is currently illegal for the roads and on the brink of falling apart. i recently have noticed that when i drive for an extended period of time, it smells like burnt oil and rubber. that can't be good. my plans have backup plans. and those plans have more back up plans. its ridiculous but i guess it's better to be prepared.

not to mention the fact that it's winter and i will be driving through two mountain ranges. last time i drove this route, my car was covered in a sheet of ice that i had to chip off at rest stops because somewhere i had seen/read that a car can over heat like that. i saw a horrific accident on the road involving a tractor trailer and an suv that happened literally a minute before i drove through it. all i can say is that i will take my time, make frequent stops and i will get there when i get there.

and i forgot- i am on my period. that alone is enough to reek havoc during any extended car trip. yuck.

in other news, i am getting the prius when i get to ny and thank god. quickly i am starting to loath paying for gas once a week and bitch in the car the whole way to the gas station to no one.  it's always a nightmare. hell is getgo on a saturday.

in music news, i fell in love with the morning benders 'excuses.' such a sweet song...

i highly recommend downloading the track here. big props are given to phil spector and the wall of sound. the strings in the beginning of the song is a nice relapse of etta james' 'at last' and of course the lyrics of cherishing a woman is a plus. and his voice... mmmm...  i am soooo happy music like this is being made again.

*****

god damn it but i really want to go to this:

of course it's in two weeks. of course it's in fuckin texas, a state that i vowed that i would never go in. part of me is calculating the amount of gas it would take and the other knows that it's not worth stepping in a state that will execute you if you don't eat meat and will torture you if you have special needs or are just plain old.

just fuck.

real romance is not taking it up the ass...

valentines day has passed (thank god) and no longer am i assaulted every step outside of my apartment with all things red and shaped like hearts with little smiling boys with arrows. don't get me wrong: any holiday that celebrates chocolate and red roses can't be bad, it's the notion behind it. the idea that this one day, we show the people that we love that we love them. shouldn't we be doing that everyday?

i laugh every time i hear a slurred "i love you!"  I crack up when watching a movie and during a passionate love scene (because it's always when they are making love, not fucking) and a 50 piece orchestra sounds in the back. it's the sappy, over the top love-isms that really get me going. i am all for romance victorian style- a lingering look, a simple caress when no one is looking, the face of a mask but eyes filled with desire. yum. forget penthouse, jane ausitin had it all.

this year, i had something extra special to look forward to. for the past two months, my upstairs neighbors have been getting it on so much and so loud, i am convinced that they are trying out for porn. they have no set schedule- the stomp through out the apartment during the day and either watch tv so loud i can hear it in the shower or fuck like bunnies at night. they never leave. i have woken up at 5am on a monday to the sounds of her moaning and his hips hitting her ass. i have gone in my bed room at 1 pm to get ready for work and hear him grunt his release. i thank god they have sturdy furniture. it has gotten so bad that i can even time it, knowing when it will end. porno has nothing on these two.

so naturally, with the most 'romantic' day of all looming around the bed, i braced myself for the screams, the grunts and the skin-to-skin contact. to my pleasure, i heard nothing. even on the day of love, miss jenna jameson-in-training wasn't getting rammed up the ass. i guess he finally decided to settle on some real romance.

i think for my parting gift for my neighbors, i am going to get them a tube of anal lube, a ball gag and a copy of 'pride and prejudice.'

hauntingly beautiful...

it's been ten years since mezzanine -by far massive attacks best album- and they finally have created another album that will stand the test of time. it's no secret that they are one of my most favorite bands and on 2.08.10, they released heligoland. all i have to say is bravo.

here is the single off of the track... caution: full bush lies ahead

Massive Attack Paradise Circus from sabakan on Vimeo.

now all i have to do is cross my fingers and pray for a tour date in the us...

deep fried cupcake on a stick... what?

one late night while watching tv, this infomercial totally had me convinced that i needed this and that my life would be less complete without it. i watched for a solid hour, pushing the fact that i should either change the channel, read a book or go to bed into the back recesses of my mind. it never occurred to me to to research other alternatives online- no: i needed it now. i mean, look at it:

all of your screen-printing needs in a portable, easy to use machine with out spending $1k and devoting a whole garage to a messy machine. want to change the pattern? easy! just wash the screen. want to make custom colors? easy! mix them with the free color mixer tray.

i waited patiently for them to put the price of the machine on the screen and to my shock, it was only $33! in the motion of grabbing my cell, i noticed the fine print: additional fees apply... i immediately turned off the tv, wiping brow from the near-miss of consequences.

so how much does this self-contained package of fun.... only $300. thank god i put the phone down. once i saw the price, i broke out in a cold sweat when i imagined how i would break the news to martha.

"but look! i can put zoe on your reusable grocery bags!"

i would get flared nostrils, hands under the pits and a loud "jasmine" in response...

a few months ago, i stumbled on this little gem of a web site. this site is freaking awesome, and i can not wait to  try the different things on it...
like making button clips for your hair...
or...
deep fried cupcakes on a stick...
or ...
a beer can ashtray.

anything creative that is remotely art & crafty, you can find here. where was this site when i was in the girl scouts? i could have used this to blow the other brownies' popsicle houses away....

so lessons learned- i am going to investigate other cheaper alternatives on how to put my cat's picture on crap, take up beer can art, avoid the deep fried cupcake and invest in this:

and maybe one of these:

song of the day: dark star- beck

different songs inspire different moods and i am not sure what this particular song says about me but it is what is at top of my playlist right now. thanks to this song, i have learned what 'perfunctory' means...

this song is actually a good representation of the whole album, the information.

classic beck strings melt with a steady base line... this song makes me wish that i could float from one place to another. it's a slow groove that would be a perfect accompaniment while walking around with headphones, laying in bed staring at the ceiling or relaxing with friends with a glass of wine and a joint... enjoy :)

and we are off...

so, of course after being trapped in my apartment with my cat due to a massive snow storm for three days, i decide at the last minute to start learning how to blog. considering that i know nothing about the subject, it has only taken me three hours to get this thing running...

naturally the first thing that pops into my mind is 'where do i start.' my answer: no clue. i am creating this blog to not only join my generation in the constant need to update others on the status of my life but to share and work through my issues; an online therapy session of sorts. i am embarrassed to say that my mother has been doing it for years. my little brother probably knows more about this than i do...  whatever.

so, i will start by saying a little about myself.

i currently live in pittsburgh, pa but will soon be moving to picturesque hudson, ny:

every time i am there i feel like i have been plopped a salem witch town straight from the scarlet letter and i immediately start listening to neil youngs' "harvest". it has taken me a few years, but damn it, it's growing on me. i can't wait to explore the surroundings- it's beautiful.

*******

i have a freaking awesome cat named oscar.

he's fluffy and i talk about him constantly. he is currently snuggled under my feet inside my blanket.

******

i have grown up with three mommies and one dad.

guess who's who... needless to say, there are some issues that need to be worked out...

well, that's it for now, mainly because i am freezing.
burrr....
